A jet that flies like a plane not a missile! Oh they just don't make 'em good&clean burning like that anymore!!!! Check out the cheese-tastic Howard Hughes produced movie "Jet Fighter" starring John Wayne for some great F-86 action!

No. 112 Squadron operated the Canadair Sabre, being 112 Squadron, the Sabre had a shark mouth, looks f-ing beast! my desktop is a b&w image of a Hawker Hunter and Canadair Sabre of No. 112 Squadron ;-)

@KARASAWA40 And the Sabre was better. Made in America, weird, huh?

@panzerrat I love the F-86 and it's probably the better of the two, but for looks I'll go with the F-84 Thunderstreak. I love how the fuselage curves from it's barrel-chested midsection to the tail. Would love to see one of those get flying!

The F-86 flew before the MiG-15. They were both influenced by german designs.

Most of the Allied jets at the time, like Shooting Star and Meteor were outclassed by the MIG-15. F-86 was intended to be a straight wing design, but the appearance of the MIGs over Korea changet hat quickly.

Possibly the most beautiful fighter ever made. Classic design style and lines.

Good to see that civilians can own fighter jets.

Outclassed by the Su-17 Fitter-C. Still a good aircraft though.

great aircraft!!!!! Pakistan Air Force had 150 of these in the fleet. F86 Sabres along with F104 Starfighters ensured that we maintained air superiority over the indians in 1965 and 1971 --- read Chuck Yeagers (man who broke sound barrier in SR71) account of Pakistan's performance against the numerically larger indian air force =) wonderful aircraft.....we have many on display throughout the cities -- and also at Pakistan Air Force Museum in Karachi

My Old CAP Group Cdr. obtains an F-86 to put up in front of the group's quanset hut HQ just to help with recruitment. He wasn't looking for anything but an old hangar-queen for display only. Well. Someone got their wires crossed somewhere and it was delivered to Andrews AFB completely refurbished; with AF Personnel waiting for one of our polits to fly it out of Andrews! LOL

My local zoo has one of these. It's balanced on a concrete pillar and it has recently been fixed up by the RCAF so it doesn't fall apart (it was looking a tad shabby for a while there. lol)
