It's reasonable that he would be able to change Japan's future if he becomes Knight of One. He would be important enough to get it changed. But, the King is just using him as a pawn. The king is well aware of Suzaku's intentions and probably believes he can Geass his way out of any trouble when the time comes. There was no way Suzaku could have predicted that though.

no body will like episode 13 i cant say because some people haven't seen it yet but its kinda sad and i think kallen gets rescued is 15 or 16

Another thing about this series has me thinking....even if Suzaku achieves the knight of one (if thats how it works) does he trully believe Britania will let him have his say? To return Japan to it's glory days. We saw in the episode where Zero lead the people of the special zone into the Chinese Republic (it that what it's called I forget right now) that lady (name escapes me) told Suzaku he's sparring their lives because he too is Japanese. The same with Nina in epi. 9 of R2. Both are R2.
