The anime came first. It is the original source material. The manga is a adaptation that was created from the basic premise of the TV series, sort of like a comic book based off of a cartoon. The direction that the manga went in and its ending have no bearing on the anime, which had its own story and ending.
In short, the anime's story is complete. There will be no second season unless the original creators come up with a new idea.

one of my favorite animes, made me feel really good inside xD especially towards the end. You just knew that the characters really grew up.

@2Ezy4u Yea he did. Another great thing about this series was the constant theme of Adolescence into adulthood, which was portrayed perfectly by the main characters.

This was one of the few animes out there that are really great. This was one of my favorites, it had a great story and had a real nice ending and movie.

After doing my "Day" extended opening using the full version of the song, I decided to try my hand at "Sakura." This one seemed to go a lot smoother, though the finishing touches took quite a few attempts to get just right. I am quite happy with the end product, however, so I hope you enjoy it.
Keep in mind that since this too is an "extended opening," it contains all the scenes from the actual opening, and thus begins a bit slow. Give it a chance.
